Their is no cookie cutter business model for any business but I will give some suggestions. First off a partner in another state may work but in my experience in order to get a business started you need people that can communicate effectively and being in another state will slow communication. I would highly suggest getting a lawyer that knows business to draw up contracts and setup an LLC or S Corporation to save on taxes. You will need to have a way for people to communicate with you if their is a problem with the product. As far as free consultations you would probably have better luck talking to your chamber of commerce and go to a few meetings with other business people to ask for their opinion on what they would do.
